My holiday Brownie Trifle, as rejected by r/foodporn for “poor plating”.

  1. I think you’re just missing something for scale. Shove a banana inside of it whole

  2. Your brownie trifle isn’t shitty, r/foodporn is just an uptight den of pretention

  3. Mods are so far up their own arse there. Wouldn’t worry about it. Looks good to me

  4. QueenOfBrews

Looks great. That sub is weird. I got banned a long time ago, and they refused to tell me why. Good riddance.

  5. It probably tastes really good but tbh, this is not an outstanding pic or presentation. Problems: bad angle, poor lighting, junky background, less than skillful execution.

  6. MaximumUseless

i’ll take one plase with some strawberries !

  7. deadpool2469

Of course it’s poor plating, where’s the peas and ground beef?

  8. AmbassadorSad1157

Who cares about plating? Grab a spoon.

  9. Back in the early days when Pinterest had just become a thing, I used to copy and paste dessert recipes into wordpad and then sell the .txt recipes on eBay as a digital file for $.50 each. I’d average 20-50 sales a week, which was decent spending money for a kid in 2008. The overwhelming majority of purchases were for a brownie trifle and I knew I had to try it, yours looks infinitely better than 14year old me could pull off!

Calling that “poor plating” is crazy. It’s a trifle in a trifle dish! And it’s layered very well!

Unnecessarily strict subreddit, from what I gather. It’s a very nice trifle.

  11. Mccmangus

Yeah man, that plate is fucked up, it almost looks like a cup

  12. I can understand why they might reject it (because of the lack of neatness they prefer) but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad dish. I think you’ve done rather well.

  13. GentrifriesGuy

This is not shitty. Enjoy your trifle

Next they’ll ban it here and say post it in r/decentfoodporn

It looks great to me! I don’t even think the plating is the “issue”. If you had better photo quality with good lighting and nice background it would make it pop and look even better. Surely wouldn’t be denied then because the desert looks yummy 😋

Omg r/foodporn are so full of it. I got raged at by a mod for asking if it was an AI generated photo. I truly don’t believe all great-looking photos are AI… I mean my phone makes me look like a professional lol. But that one seemed to be, their whole post history, while very young, was a bunch of fake karma farming. And I wasn’t nasty, if someone didn’t it just ignore me or downvote me whatever. The mod sent me a whole paragraph like, “How dare you question this photo just because it looks good!” then blocked me from commenting. I wasn’t being nasty just brought it up but they acted like I suggested murder or something.
I gladly left the sub after that.

Your trifle looks tasty. Also aren’t trifles typically served in these sort of glass vessels? I hope you liked it!

  19. UntestedMethod

Looks delicious but they’re not wrong. The playing lacks finesse. This is like the secret kinky fetish type of porn… The kind you might enjoy watching but wouldn’t be proud of starring in.

  20. hanniversary

I think it falls somewhere in between, it’s neither good nor bad

  21. InsertRadnamehere

Food porn to me is more about the production quality of the photo than the plating of the food.

This looks like it tastes amazing and without zooming in I don’t see much fault in the plating.

BUT, the setting of your photo, the lighting, composition and image quality aren’t up to snuff for r/foodporn.

Think if it this way, if you opened up a fancy food or travel magazine, would you expect to see a full page version of that photo?

They faulted the plating because they don’t have adequate vocabulary to state what they actually mean.

Don’t feel bad. You don’t want to fuck your food anyway.

  22. I_Am_Robert_Paulson1

Why does everyone assume that if something isn’t high quality enough to belong over at r/foodporn, that this is the right place for it?

  23. HighSpeedDoggo

I would breathe in this whole thing in 0.0001 sec
